The Long Game

The Long Game: Can Nuclear Outlast the Fossil Bridge? - Quarter 1 2025

Case for tracking:

Nuclear is being positioned as a clean, reliable base-load solution, making it a critical area to watch in global energy strategies. SMR are becoming more relevant in countries that do not produce LNG on a large scale, but even countries like the U.S. and Saudi Arabia are advancing investments.

Data centres, a primary target of nuclear power in Q4 2024, have shifted more towards LNG combined with CCUS systems. The obstacles remain high set-up costs and the public’s general fear of nuclear power. Interestingly, tech giants like Amazon, Meta, and Google are still backing nuclear to fuel data centres. Nuclear energy remains relevant, but LNG is being preferred as it is available NOW, although at a price.
