Drill, Deliver, Decarbonise: Geothermal’s Investment Moment
Is geothermal emerging as the next source of firm clean power for stressed grids?
Q4 2025 marked a clear shift in how geothermal energy is positioned within global energy debates, moving from a niche baseload option to infrastructure-grade, firm clean power. Energy Considered tracking shows Geothermal energy mentioned 212 times this quarter by its 5,000-strong Key Opinion Leader (KOL) community, reflecting growing attention from investors, policymakers, and specialist media focused on grid reliability and execution.
The defining moment of the quarter was the $462 million Series E funding round raised by Fervo Energy, one of the largest financings ever for next-generation geothermal. Reporting consistently framed the deal as a signal of commercial maturity rather than technological experimentation. Benoit Morenne from – The Wall Street Journal, wrote that “the raise puts geothermal in the same capital-allocation conversation as batteries and other grid-reliability assets” underscoring its elevation within firm-power investment markets.
